NEW: Adult Literacy

Starting January 2026, The Literacy Society of the North Okanagan will provide FREE literacy support to adults in the region who need help with reading, writing and English language support.
Our volunteer tutors are skilled and patient and look forward to working with new learners.

Who is this service for?

• ELL learners (English as learning language)
• College applicants and upgrading students
• Job seekers or
• Anyone over 18 wanting to practice and improve their English

What do we provide?

• 1-2 hours of in-person support per week
• Flexible times
• Vernon Library or Literacy Society Learning Centre locations

Without our dedicated volunteers this program would not be possible.

Our volunteers are required to:

• Attend an orientation/training session
• Undergo a criminal record check
• Receive ongoing support from the program coordinator
