Wage: $28/hour

About Us
The Literacy Society of the North Okanagan (LSNO) is a non-profit organization committed to promoting
literacy and lifelong learning. We offer free, accessible programming for children, youth, adults, and
families throughout the North Okanagan, supporting learners in building essential skills for everyday life,
work, and community participation.
Position Summary
The Digital Literacy Program Coordinator leads the planning, delivery, growth, and quality of LSNO’s digital
literacy programming. This is a hands-on role that combines direct workshop facilitation, curriculum
development, volunteer coordination, and community outreach.
The Coordinator is responsible for teaching core digital literacy workshops, developing standardized
curriculum that can be delivered consistently by staff and volunteers, and expanding the program’s reach
through partnerships, events, and community engagement. The ideal candidate is learner-centred,
confident with everyday technology, and comfortable working with diverse adult learners.
Key Responsibilities
1. Workshop Facilitation & Instruction
• Deliver digital literacy workshops, including:
o Samsung / Android Basics
o Apple Basics & Apple Basics Plus
o PC Basics
o Apple Photos
o Facebook Basics
o WhatsApp
o Online Safety
o Google / Samsung Passwords
o Apple Passwords
o AI
• Adapt instruction to meet varied learner needs, skill levels, and learning styles
• Provide clear, practical instruction focused on everyday digital tasks and confidence-building
2. Curriculum Development & Standardization
• Design, document, and maintain standardized curriculum for all digital literacy workshops
• Create facilitator guides, learner handouts, and reference materials to support consistent delivery
• Ensure curriculum can be effectively delivered by both staff and trained volunteers
• Regularly review and update materials to reflect technology changes and learner feedback
3. Volunteer Coordination & Support
• Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteer tutors and workshop facilitators
• Provide orientation, instructional resources, and ongoing guidance to volunteers
• Support volunteers in delivering workshops using standardized curriculum
4. Program Coordination & Administration
• Assess learner needs and direct them to appropriate workshops or one-to-one supports
• Schedule workshops and tutoring sessions across LSNO and partner sites
• Track attendance, outcomes, and program data for reporting and funder requirements
• Prepare reports and contribute to program planning and evaluation
5. Outreach, Promotion & Partnerships
• Represent LSNO at community meetings, gatherings, and outreach events
• Promote digital literacy programming to increase participation and awareness
• Build and maintain relationships with community partners and referral agencies
• Support program growth by identifying new outreach and collaboration opportunities
6. Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
• Monitor program effectiveness and learner outcomes
• Gather feedback from learners and volunteers
• Implement improvements to curriculum, delivery, and outreach strategies
Qualifications
• Post-secondary education in adult education, social services, education, or a related field, or
equivalent experience
• Experience coordinating programs, volunteers, or instructional services
• Strong understanding of adult learning principles and learner-centred approaches
• Comfortable teaching and troubleshooting:
o Android / Samsung devices
o Apple (iPhone, iPad, Mac basics)
o Windows PCs
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and scheduling or data systems
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a flexible environment
• Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector required)
Assets
• Experience in non-profit, literacy, or digital education settings
• Knowledge of community resources in the North Okanagan
• Experience delivering workshops or group instruction
Working Conditions
• Program operates September through July 31, with lighter duties during the summer months
• Hybrid role, combining in-office work in Vernon, BC with some remote work
• Occasional evening and weekend hours required to support workshops, outreach events, and
community engagement
• Some local travel within the North Okanagan required
